IPFは、化学療法や造血幹細胞移植後の血小板回復予測にも有用です(下図)。

同種造血幹細胞移植における血小板回復(平均値)
(A) 骨髄移植(BMT)
(B) 末梢血幹細胞移植(PBSCT)
(C) 臍帯血移植(CBT)
いずれも血小板数回復に先行して、幼若血小板比率(IPF)が一過性に増加します(IPFサージ)。
幼若血小板絶対数数(absolute immature platelet count: AIPC)の回復は、血小板回復とほぼ一致します。
